The Wilderness Society Tasmania:<\/strong>
A foundational organization in the Australian environmental movement, running state-wide campaigns for native forest protection and climate action.<\/p>\n

Environment Tasmania:<\/strong>
The state\u2019s peak conservation organization, focusing on marine protection, ending native forest logging, and accelerating the renewable energy transition.<\/p>\n

Tasmanian Conservation Trust (TCT):<\/strong>
Established in 1968, it provides hands-on support for community-led biodiversity preservation and campaigns against destructive urban over-development.<\/p>\n

Planning Matters Alliance Tasmania (PMAT):<\/strong>
A coalition of nearly 80 community groups dedicated to defending civic participation and environmental protections in the state\u2019s land-use planning system.<\/p>\n

North West Environment Centre (NWEC):<\/strong>
A regional organization based in Wynyard focused on sustainable living, coastal rehabilitation, and resilience-building community gardens.<\/p>\n

Key political and community-focused groups include:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Tasmanian Greens:<\/strong>
The state\u2019s prominent minor political party, campaigning on ecological sustainability, social justice, and grassroots democracy.<\/p>\n

Voices of Tasmania:<\/strong>
A non-partisan, community-led association that identifies and supports Independent candidates to restore integrity, transparency, and grassroots accountability to local, state, and federal politics.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

DON'T GET ANGRY - GET ACTIVE<\/h1>\n

When you see the world through the filter of social media, 24hr TV news streams and even the local newspaper you would be tempted to think the world is falling apart.<\/h6>\n

Well it's not.<\/h4>\n

In the long record of history we, as a global species, have never had a more peacefull existence, never been healthier, better educated, well housed, well connected and well fed. We have never lived longer or better.<\/p>\n

We (globally) have woken up to the damage we are doing to the environment and are making changes in the right direction - our survival as a species depends upon it.<\/p>\n

We have also recognised massive global inequality between the rich and poor and between ours and other species with which we share the planet - most of us are trying to restore the balance.<\/p>\n

But it's not happening fast enough!<\/h6>\n

There is still so much to do and if we don't speed up change things on this planet can turn around quickly and we'll end up going backwards.<\/p>\n

Thats why we need good people to take a stand and break the status quo.<\/p>\n

To take on faceless corporations with zero moral guidance valuing profit above all else.<\/p>\n

Wake up out-of-touch politicians who work for themselves, their political parties, and their hold on power by appealing to self-interest and tribalalism within the electorate.<\/p>\n

Change starts here - in your community and here in Tasmania which is why I'm asking for you to start difficult conversations with people who may not agree with you. Listen to them, understand their perspective and find middle ground.<\/p>\n

Better still get involved in one of the groups listed on this page. \u00a0And if you really want to dive in head first, as I did, consider becoming an Independent member of Parliament like me.<\/p>\n
